Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Autumn

Although Autumn has come and is heavily leaning on our door, still small remnants of Summer linger.  I enjoy these moments while I can, knowing that soon the door will be flung wide open allowing the colder days to come and the dormant cycle where nature sleeps to begin.

Shrooms

Autumn brings us many things.  A vast variety of mushrooms seems to be one of the many this year.  My yard seems to have a new one everyday.  Magical fairy rings can be found everywhere.  These sights are not around for long.  As they can come up in a matter of minutes and be gone from sight just as quickly.

There are a few things that I truly love to photograph, ok.. more than a few... A couple of these are Crosses  & bridges.. Once again I think it lends itself to my love of symetry.   These were taken about a year ago when I went out to Canadian Texas to visit Vincent on site.

Welcome Autumn

"Seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For summer has o'er brimmed their clammy cells."
-John Keats, To Autumn

The Color Before the Fall

Fall is fast approaching and soon the cooler temperatures will lull the bright colors of summer to their winters sleep.  A few of of the last splashes of color Summer has given to me.

My Yard - Part 1

As summer slides away to give way to the beauty of Autumn, the butterflies and wood moths gather on an old willow near the pond. Their number astounds me at times. The cats dance around with them as if to music played by the rustle of the willow branches as the cooler north breeze blows. Soon nature will lull much of its inhabitants to the soft sleep of winter.

We are blessed to have a small pond in our back yard next to our home. It is a special place for many reasons. Recently one of the large willow trees had a large growth of mushrooms just before the full moon. It was a fascinating sight yet only lasted for a short while.
